HOMEOPATHY TO PREVENT ASTHMA IN CHILDREN: REMEDIES TO PREVENT WHEEZING
There are four principal remedies that can be used to prevent wheezing:
Arsenicum Album. Suitable for use when the following symptoms are apparent: red skin, red lips, red moist tongue, frightened, restless although quickly exhausted, nervous, moist hot skin, weak voice, rushed speech, sickly smell, worse after midnight. There is a craving for hot drinks and a dislike of the cold.
Carbo Vegetabilis. Suitable in a child whose attacks are characterized by: bluish skin, pale lips, pale dry tongue, intense fear, quiet and weak, sweaty skin which is cold and clammy, hoarse voice, very little speech, sour smell to breath, worse in the evenings. The child feels better away from heat and likes a cold flannel.
Ipecacuanha. Pale skin, pink lips, clean dry tongue, calm and not frightened, cold sweaty skin, normal voice and quite chatty, smells normal, worse in the night and morning. Likes cold weather and cold drinks.
Nux Vomica. Red skin, red lips, red dry tongue, irritable and impatient, weak husky voice, skin very sensitive to touch and feels hot, smells bitter and is worse in the morning. Vomiting is a major feature during an attack and the child likes warmth and rest.
You will notice that the features of each preparation are easily distinguishable. Your own child may well not show every one of these characteristics, and the closest-fit remedy should be chosen.
